I have always had an interest for
magic as far back as I can remember. In 1991 while recovering
from
back surgery I had my first magic lesson. It was at that time
that I realized I enjoyed being an entertainer and began my
career as a magician. Over the next several years I preformed at
numerous birthday parties, church bazaars, and carnivals. Then
in 2005 I moved from California to Branson
Missouri and opened my barbershop. Branson Missouri is an area
where entertainment is an every day occurrence. However, I soon
discovered that while being an area full of entertainment, it
was directed more toward the tourist population than the locals and there was a lack of
entertainment for the younger generation. Deep down I knew I
wanted to get back into magic, so I placed a flyer in my shop
advertising my availability for magic shows and birthday parties. One day while
in the middle of a conversation with one of my customers, he asked
if I had ever clowned. My response was no, but that thought
lingered with me all that evening and into the night. I spent
the next few weeks searching the internet, reading, learning
about clowning and then it occurred to me that clowning was the
missing link. I decided to go for it and become a clown. Thus
providing a wider choice of entertainment opportunities.
Since I was a barber, I chose the
name "Clipper" as my clown name. However, after thinking of the
possibilities of what some kids would say. Clipper sounded too
close to Flipper, and did not want any cute nick names such as
"Clipper Flipper". Chopper worked out to be a better choice of
names, as I do chop hair and I also love motorcycles. So I
decided on Chopper.
